DR. GLENN SINGLEMAN

Dr. Glenn Singleman is the leader of The Furthest Flight Team. It is his dream, his vision and his ability to pull all the necessary components of the project together that has made it possible.

Glenn is a passionate adventurer who has traversed the planet on expeditions as bold and diverse as flying the first hot air balloons over Mt Everest, exploring the wreck of the Titanic and setting the World Record for the highest BASEjump and wingsuit BASEjump to mention a few.

HEATHER SWAN

Heather is a passionate wingsuit pilot, a climber, award winning author, an avid skydiving photographer and mother.

Together with husband Glenn, she holds the World Record for the highest wingsuit BASEjump and the highest BASEjump both set from a 6672m Himalayan mountain.

Heather is Glenn's 'co-pilot' for The Furthest Flight. Her goal is to capture a photograph of Glenn flying in sight of Uluru. She will write a feature article about the project for Australian Geographic magazine. For more information on Heather click here

GREG COX

Greg Cox is one of Australia's most experienced all round skydivers and wingsuit pilots. He is the principal wingsuit camera flyer for The Furthest Flight. He has the huge responsibility of making sure we 'get the shots'. He and his wife Elaine have been an enormous support to Glenn and Heather over the last few years.

Greg is the Chief Instructor of Skydive Temora which he runs together with Elaine. Greg has an amazing 9000+ jumps.

He qualified as a military parachutist in 1979 and a sport parachutist in 1981. From 1984 he spent 3 years on the British Parachute Regiment Freefall Display Team - the Red Devils, during which time he gained his British Parachute Association SL/Tandem/ AFF Instructor ratings as well as performing display jumps around the world.

On leaving the British Army he became CI of the London Skydiving Centre, then one of the 3 largest DZ’s in the UK, he became an Examiner running and attending Instructor Courses and served as a member of the BPA Council.

He has worked as a freelance Instructor throughout Europe mainly based at Empuriabrava Spain and Texel Holland and finally in search of weather conducive to jumping every day(!) migrated to Australia in 1994.

He has competed at UK National and State level in both FS and CF disciplines but his passion lies in Instruction – introducing others into a sport he lives for.

Greg made his first wingsuit flight in 2001 and like wingsuit flyers before him was totally inspired. His commitment is to furthering education in the sport to facilitate standards for the good of the whole.

The BALLOON TEAM

JOHN WALLINGTON

John Wallington has spent the last 20 years working on all aspects of ballooning businesses in Canberra, The Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns & Alice Springs. In addition to managing and marketing, John is also an experienced pilot and Chief Flying Instructor for Outback Ballooning’s approved Pilot Training School. His achievements include being twice Australian National Ballooning Champion and the first record breaking balloon flights non-stop across Australia and from New Zealand to Australia.

Together with Glenn, John worked tirelessly to secure the necessary permissions to make Furthest Flight possible.

SEAN KAVANAGH

Sean’s accomplishments in ballooning are highly impressive. He is currently the Australian National Balloon Champion, competing all over the world with great success. He works full time designing and building hot air balloons and was instrumental in the design of the Kavanagh Smart Vent, a highly acclaimed safety innovation in balloon development.

Sean's expertise was critical in modifying the balloon burners to function at high altitude and Glenn, Heather and Greg will be relying on his skill when they disconnect from the onboard oxygen system and change to their bailout systems. ANDREW WIGHT

Andrew is a long time friend of Glenn and Heather's. Like Glenn he is a professional adventurer and documentary film-maker.

Andrew's specialty is underwater exploration and film making. He is a prominent and respected scuba and cave diving instructor, a commercial helicopter pilot and passionate farmer. Andrew has lead expeditions to dive and explore some of the most remote and bizarre regions of the world including, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Florida, Cuba, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, New Caladonia, Fiji, New Zealand, Gaudaloupe Is, Bahamas, Dominiocan Republic, Belize, Dry Tortugas, Navassa Is, Costa Rica, Coccos Island, Galapagos Islands, Lord Howe Is, Titanic, Bismarck and Australia.

Since 1988 he has produced more than 36 documentary films. Andrew's company, Great Wight Productions is internationally renowned for making award winning adventure television programs. His productions have screened in over 60 countries around the world and have featured on National television in the USA on NBC Dateline, Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel. Andrew was also the producer for the 3D IMAX film "Ghosts of the Abyss" directed by James Cameron and the executive producer for a 2 hour television special directed by James Cameron for the Discovery channel about the battleship Bismarck and another on the Titanic called "Last Mysteries of the Titanic".

Andrew will fly helicopter retrieval for 'The Furthest Flight' and provide vital all round logisitcs and operations support.

GRAEME MURRAY

Graeme is a 35 yr old adventurer who lives in Rotorua , New Zealand. Graeme trained in professional photography then moved into being an Audio Visual producer traveling around NZ, Australia and the Pacific islands working with NZ's biggest companies. He then moved into TV production before starting his own company doing all things visual, photography and video. Graeme shoots everything from adventure sports to resorts. His clients are based around New Zealand and also Internationally. He is regarded as as one of the top Mountain bike photographers in the world. Graeme's philosophy is to try and make every day different. If not shooting on jobs for clients, he can be found out mountain biking, surfing, kitesurfing or snowboarding. His love of different things is what got him involved with Furthest Flight. He's known Glenn for many years and has wanted to join one of his expeditions for almost as long. Graeme will play a critical role in getting the sort of creative, technically excellent adventure shots Australian Geographic is renowned for. TERRY CLARK

While most of Terry's contemporaries are slowing down and retiring, Terry is doing the opposite, hence his enthusiasm for co-ordinating on-the-ground logisitcs for the wingsuit team, in addition to taking stills photographs.

Terry spent 14 years in the Royal Air Force involved in airborne radio communications and guided missile trials in the UK and South Australia. Returning to the UK after five years in South Australia he was involved in trials in the UK for airborne equipment destined for use in Concorde. After completing his RAF service he returned to South Australia and worked at Woomera on the Jindivik target aircraft for seven years. During this time he used his lifetime interest in photography to establish a photographic business and an insurance agency servicing the needs of an isolated community of 6,500. Moving to Adelaide he continued his businesses in tandem doing photographic work for multi national companies and in particular photographing the Australian round of the World Rally Championship in Perth over a period of 19 years for the Western Australian Tourism Commission. In recent years he has acted as stills photographer on a number of Australian made movies, photographed three Darwin to Adelaide Solar Car Challenges and was Manager of Photographic Service at the small bore shooting for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
